My name is Arfan Iqbal and I am the Principal Dentist at Sandes Avenue Dental Practice having a special interest in Oral Surgery, Implant and Restorative Dentistry. Having qualified from Manchester Dental School in 2001, I began my career in the very busy referral clinics of Dundee Dental Hospital working alongside some of the top consultants in the country. Here, I developed my interest in Cosmetic and Advanced Restorative Dentistry. After obtaining further qualifications, I earned the prestigious membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.
Following this l have worked with several large corporates including BUPA and Colgate in providing a wide variety of cosmetic procedures, and now work here in Kendal and Preston.
I am proud of our great practice here as we strive to provide high quality dentistry with exceptional customer service. I now regularly receive referrals from other dentists for Oral Surgery, Dental Implants and other advanced cosmetic procedures. I regularly keep up to date with all the latest developments in dentistry, often traveling worldwide to obtain skills in the latest techniques. I enjoy treating nervous patients and have a very caring and professional approach, this can be seen by the hundreds of testimonials received from my very happy patients. I am also one of the few dentists in the country to be Dental Phobia Certified.
I am very passionate about my dentistry including cosmetic dentistry such as veneers and dental implants, many patients come to see me who have not seen a dentist for many years, they may not have been attending due to fear or they may have been ashamed of their smile. I feel especially proud once I have gained their trust, answered all their questions and given them a beautiful natural smile. It’s so rewarding to see them smile confidently for the first time in years and no longer be scared of going to the dentist. This passion is also reflected in my team who go to great lengths to ensure that your visit is as relaxing and as pleasant as can be. To complement my dentistry I carry out facial rejuvenation procedures such as Botox and Dermal Fillers
Outside dentistry I enjoy spending time with friends and family and am a keen badminton player.

I began my dental career in Scotland having qualified from Aberdeen Dental School. My experience broadened very quickly as I worked in busy dental practices in areas of Scotland with high dental needs. This has allowed me to providewide range of treatments to patients of all ages. I particularly enjoy helping patients out ofpain. I also find assisting patients with dental anxiety very rewarding as I see themgrow in confidence.
I have extended my knowledge by attended several courses throughout the country which has developed my skills in providing dental treatments to a high standard. I have recently completed the reputable PerioAcademy course gaining advanced skills in managing gum disease. I am also competent in providing cosmetic treatmentswhich gives me great satisfaction in providing a beautifulsmile in people that helps improve their wellbeing.
I am a very friendly and caring person and this is reflected in the treatments that I provide and based on feedback that I receive from people.
Outside of dentistry I enjoy spending time with my two young children who keep me very busy. I enjoy cooking and I like to experiment with new dishes. I also go to the gym, play badminton and thoroughly enjoy exploring the great outdoors.
